Course, services and rules
The event uses two USATF-certified loop courses. The short course is 1.17078 miles (1.8842 km), mostly asphalt/concrete with about 5% crushed gravel; short course entrants complete an initial additional segment then 85 full loops for a 100-mile distance. The long course is about 2.3094 miles (3.71712 km) in a horseshoe layout; long-course 100-mile and 50-mile lap counts are published as 100.489 miles and 50.814 miles respectively. Short-course cutoff is 48 hours. The long course 100-mile cutoff is 30 hours, with an early-start option that extends the limit to 32 hours.
A main aid station operates 24/7 with hot meals and some vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-sensitive options; an express water-fill point is available. The race is cupless, so runners should carry a bottle or cup. Live chip timing and on-course split tracking are provided. Pacers are not permitted for the USATF 100 Mile Championship; other races allow one on-foot pacer overnight. On-site features include designated staging areas, a warming tent with limited communal cots (three-hour maximum naps), on-site parking, and limited RV parking. Medical support includes first aid kits and an EMT on call. Prize money for the USATF 100 Mile Championship totals $4,000, distributed to the top three men and women.
