Fill the Shoes 5K
The 15th annual Fill the Shoes 5K is a community run and walk held in the Hayfield Farm neighborhood of Alexandria, VA, with the course consisting of multiple loops that start and end at Hayfield Park. The event benefits the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and organizers report that 100 percent of net proceeds will be donated to that organization at the end of the year. Donations are described as tax deductible to the fullest extent of U.S. tax codes.
Race entries receive a long sleeve technical moisture wicking race shirt and a Fill the Shoes car magnet. Timing and scoring are provided by an outside timing group, with results available on site after the event and posted online within 24 hours. Awards include pint glass trophies for top finishers and top three male and female placings overall and within listed age groups, including Under 10, 10 to 14, 15 to 19, and successive five year groups up to 70 and over.
Registration pricing and deadlines are published for online and on site options, with on site packet pickup available the day before at the event headquarters and limited packet pickup on race morning. Street parking is available in Hayfield Farm with additional parking at a nearby shopping center and Hayfield Elementary School. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
