Jack 15 Road Race
The Jack 15 is an annual road race that follows a 15.2-mile course from Hooker and Main in White, South Dakota, to the Campanile in Brookings via county roads. The event is described as the oldest road race in the Midwest; the 64th running is scheduled for September 19, 2026.
Entry options include individual competitors running the full 15.2 miles and relay teams. Relay formats are five-member teams running about 3 miles each, three-member teams running about 5 miles each, and two-member teams running about 7.5 miles each. Relay teams may be all men, all women, or co-ed. An early start is offered for walkers and slow runners by arrangement with the race director one week before the race.
All entries receive a long-sleeve moisture-wicking T-shirt. Finishers of the full 15.2-mile run receive medals, with newly designed custom medals noted for completing the distance. Cash prizes are offered to the top three male and female finishers: $200 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third. Other merchandise or gift-certificate awards and age-group certificates are also given; championship T-shirts are awarded to top relay teams in each division.
A separate children’s run is organized at the Clock Tower across from the Campanile and is coordinated by the Miller Wellness Center. Course maps, registration details, packet pickup locations, and additional runner information are provided by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
