Brookings Marathon
The Brookings Marathon is an annual road race in Brookings, South Dakota, traditionally held in May. The course passes through parks, gardens, university areas and historic districts. Runners follow routes that include historic neighborhoods, parkways, bike paths and tree lined streets.
The event offers several race options and records and results are maintained for each distance. Support for runners is provided by hundreds of volunteers, and there are opportunities for family and friends to watch and cheer along the route. The race has evolved since 1970 and is identified as the 25th oldest marathon in the United States and the third oldest among those run every year since inception.
