ISWAI Community 5K Run/Walk
ISWAI, together with the Indian Nurses Association of Illinois, Malayalee Association of Respiratory Care, Rehabilitation Professionals of Kerala Origin, and Malayalee Radiographers Association, will host a community 5K Run/Walk on September 12, 2026, at the Cook County Forest Preserve. The event is intended to raise awareness about lifestyle diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension, and to highlight the role of healthy eating and regular physical activity in prevention.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Chosen Foundation, a nonprofit that supports developmentally disabled adults in living independently and participating actively in the community. Organizers expect participation to exceed 500 runners and walkers. Registration closes on July 31, 2026. The event is open to individuals and families of all ages and fitness levels.
