ISWAI Community 5K Run/Walk
ISWAI, together with the Indian Nurses Association of Illinois, Malayalee Association of Respiratory Care, Rehabilitation Professionals of Kerala Origin, and Malayalee Radiographers Association, will hold a community 5K Run/Walk on September 12, 2026, at the Cook County Forest Preserve. The event aims to raise awareness about lifestyle diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. These conditions are named as leading causes of death that can often be prevented through healthy eating and regular physical activity.
Proceeds from the event will support Chosen Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps developmentally disabled adults live independently and actively within the community. Organizers report strong community interest and expect participation to exceed 500 runners and walkers. Registration closes on July 31, 2026.
