Irvine Sprint Triathlon (Triathlon Scotland National Sprint Distance Championships)
Organised by Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club, this event incorporates the 2026 Triathlon Scotland National Sprint Distance Championships and is held on the Ayrshire coast using Shewalton pond and nearby roads and paths. Individual and relay entries are available. Relay teams consist of three people, each completing one discipline, and may be mixed or single gender.
The race format is sprint distance with the following course elements:
- SWIM: 750 m - 1 lap around Shewalton pond
- BIKE: 20 km - 2 laps along Marine Drive to Irvine Harbour
- RUN: 5 km - 1 lap out and back through Shewalton Woods
The swim uses a deep water start with waves organised by gender and estimated swim time and is covered by kayak safety support. The bike course is on fully open roads and riders must follow the Highway Code; the bike route may be subject to change because of roadworks. The run follows a flat tarmac out and back path through Shewalton Woods.
A post race buffet is provided by club members. An awards ceremony will present overall and age group prizes and crown the 2026 national sprint champions; national championship medals are awarded in five year age categories and require Triathlon Scotland membership to be eligible. Participants agree to result publication and relevant data sharing as described by the organiser. The swim may be removed and the event run as a duathlon if water conditions require it.
