Irvine Sprint Triathlon (02 Aug 2026)
The Irvine Sprint Triathlon is organised by Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club and incorporates the 2026 Triathlon Scotland National Sprint Distance Championships. The event is an open water sprint triathlon on the Ayrshire coast and is described as suitable for triathlon beginners.
Distances:
- Swim: 750 m
- Bike: 20 km
- Run: 5 km
The swim is one counter-clockwise lap of Shewalton pond, with a deep water start run in waves based on gender and estimated swim time; kayak safety cover is provided. The bike is two laps to and along Marine Drive toward Irvine Harbour, run on fully open roads where the Highway Code must be followed; the bike course may change for roadworks. The run is a flat out-and-back 5 km on traffic-free tarmac paths through Shewalton Woods.
Relay teams of three complete one discipline each and may be single or mixed gender. Minimum age information is stated by the organiser: participants may be 15 on race day but must turn 16 by 31st December 2025. Overall and age-group prizes will be awarded and national sprint champions will be crowned in five-year age categories for eligible Triathlon Scotland members.
A post-race buffet is provided by club members. The event is run under British Triathlon rules and the organiser may alter routes or run the event as a duathlon if water conditions require. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
