Event Overview
The IronDog 5k is a 12th annual fundraising event. The purpose of the IronDog Fund is to support medical and surgical care for animals at the MSU Veterinary Medical Center. This 5k event is the organization's largest annual fundraiser.
Events
The event offers two participation options.
- 5k Run/Walk: An in-person event.
- Virtual 5k Run/Walk: Participants can complete the distance on their own course and date, and receive a shirt by mail.
Course Details
The in-person course goes through the campus of Michigan State University (MSU). The event description characterizes it as flat.
Participation Rules
Dogs are permitted for participants walking the course. Dogs must be on a leash, and those with dogs are asked to start at the back of the starting area. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards.
Awards
Awards are given for the in-person 5k. Categories include overall male and female winners, overall Master (age 40+) male and female winners, and awards for the top three finishers in each age group.
Registration and Fees
Registration pricing operates on a tiered system, with a guaranteed race shirt for early registrants. The standard in-person 5k fee is $30 until March 13, which guarantees a t-shirt. The price increases to $35 from March 14 to March 20, with limited shirts available. Race day registration is $40, with shirts available while supplies last. The virtual 5k costs $35 until March 13, with a guaranteed shirt, and $40 from March 14 to March 21, with limited shirts available; this price includes shipping.
Packet Pickup
Early packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, March 20, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Playmakers, located at 2299 W Grand River Ave in Okemos, Michigan. Race day packet pickup will be available at the race site from 7:30 AM to 8:50 AM.
Timing and Results
