Event Overview
The Iron Will Backroads is an ultra-endurance running event held in Enterprise, Kansas. The race takes place primarily on a combination of gravel roads and rail trails, with minimal asphalt sections. A distinct feature of the course is the rail trail portion, which runs alongside an active historic train.
Participants navigate the course in a looped format. For the longest distance, the route consists of nine loops, each measuring 11.15 miles, totaling approximately 100.35 miles. A manned aid station is positioned at the 6-mile mark of each loop to provide support to the runners.

The event offers three distinct distance categories:
- 100 Mile
- 50 Mile
- 50K
Participant Support and Regulations
Pacers are permitted to join runners in the 100 Mile distance starting from the sixth loop. Only one pacer is allowed at a time, and all pacers are required to sign a liability waiver. Participants are not permitted to change distances or drop down to a shorter race once the event has started.
Awards and Amenities
All registered participants receive a tri-blend shirt. To guarantee shirt availability, registration must be completed by the specified deadline in early May. All individuals who complete their respective distances receive a finisher buckle. Additionally, awards are presented to the first-place male and female winners in each of the three race categories. The event maintains a deferral policy allowing for a 100% deferral if requested within 30 days of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
