Event Overview
Earth Day Buckle Mania is an endurance running event held in Abilene, Kansas. The competition takes place within a private park on a certified paved loop measuring 1.8228 miles. The course is described as being mostly shaded. Participants can choose from three distinct timed event durations:
- 48 Hour
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hour
Awards and Distances
The event features a unique cumulative award system where runners earn a commemorative buckle for reaching specific milestones during their selected time frame. It is possible for a single participant to earn multiple awards, with a maximum of six buckles available. The buckles are awarded upon completing the following distances: 50 km, 50 miles, 100 km, 100 miles, 150 miles, and 200 miles. In addition to the distance awards, the top male and female finishers in each timed category receive an overall award. All participants who register by the specified deadline receive a tri-blend shirt.
Logistics and Regulations
The race venue offers on-site amenities located at 1943 Indy Road. Lodging is included in the entry fee for runners, providing access to heated buildings, cabins, and heated showers. RV hook-ups are available for an additional fee. Pacers are permitted to join runners after the first 12 hours of the event has elapsed, though they are not allowed to carry gear or supplies for the participant.
