Event Overview
The 14th Annual Iredell County Special Olympics Ghoulish Gallop is a running event supporting Iredell County Special Olympics. It takes place on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 1875 Simonton Rd. in Statesville, North Carolina.
Event Distances
Four running events are offered:
- 5k Youth - For participants aged 17 and under.
- 5k Adult - For participants aged 18 to 99.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk Youth - For participants aged 17 and under.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk Adult - For participants aged 18 to 99.
Event Details
The course is on a greenway. Participants are allowed to wear costumes, and strollers are permitted, but dogs are not allowed. The first 10 participants receive a free pair of Feetures socks.
Awards are given for overall, masters, and 5-year age groups.
Championship Series
This event is part of a 15-race Championship Series for 2026. To be eligible for the series championship, a participant must compete in 10 out of the 15 races. Running in more than 10 races earns one additional point per race. Completing all 15 races earns five additional points and a free race entry for 2027. Points are awarded for various placements, from overall winners to all other participants. Prize money is awarded to the top five male and female championship winners at the end of the series.
