Event overview
The Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 27 September 2026. The race starts and finishes at Portman Road Stadium, home to Ipswich Town FC. Entrants must be 17 years or over on event day. Included for participants are chip timing, a finisher's goody bag, an exclusive medal and the option to pre-order a finisher t-shirt and an iTAB.
Course and logistics
The route runs down Duke Street, through Ipswich Waterfront and along Cliff Lane, continues around the River Orwell, then goes to Wherstead Road and back along Grafton Way before the finish at the stadium. Water stations on course provide 330 ml bottles and High5 energy stations supply Zero tabs and energy gels; recycling bins are provided at each water station. Fixed first aid stations are located near the water stations and a first aid unit and recovery area are located near the start and finish. Pacers sponsored by Arla Protein will run with flags indicating finish times.
On the day and travel
Race numbers not received by post can be collected from the Race Office at Portman Road Stadium; the Race Office opens from 7.30 am on the event day. A designated baggage store is available and discarded clothing at the start will be collected for donation. Toilets are provided around the stadium and photography will be available from MarathonPhotos. Travel options listed include car, bus, rail and bike; Ipswich train station is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the start area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
