Into the Woods: Trail Running for Newbies
This is a four week trail running series taking place Thursdays, June 6 to June 25, with sessions meeting at Mendon Ponds Park, Powder Mills Park and other scenic local locations. The program is offered for people who want an introduction to trail running and time on varied terrain.
Each 90 minute session includes dynamic warm ups, guided run segments at a pace that works for each participant, and skill focus drills such as hill technique, footwork, and trail awareness. Sessions also include stretching and cool downs, plus gear tips and safety guidance about what to wear and carry on the trails.
The series is designed for participants who can comfortably complete a continuous 30 to 45 minute outdoor run, approximately 3 miles. Participants will receive a pair of trail socks and additional gifts from Rochester Running Company. The registration fee is $60.
The setting uses multiple meeting locations to expose participants to different trail conditions and scenery. Instruction is provided in a group format intended to help attendees build confidence and practical trail skills they can use on future outings.
