Indian Ocean Marathon 2027 : Durban

The Indian Ocean Marathon takes place on 4 April 2027 along the Durban coastline. The event is based at Sunkist Lawns, opposite Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, and finishes at the same venue with a finish-line village offering refreshments and medals.

Three race distances follow a coastal route that passes Durban North, La Lucia and Umhlanga and uses water and refreshment stations approximately every 2.5 km. Chip timing is used for all distances with results published online. Medical personnel are stationed at key points on the course and at the finish. Bag drop and portable toilet facilities are provided at the start and finish. Photography is supplied by professional race photographers and photos are available online after the event.

Entries are limited to 5,000 runners. Entry fees start from R220 and vary by distance and registration period; early and standard entries include a race t-shirt and goodie bag while late entries do not. Local entrants for the 50 km must hold a valid ASA number; temporary licences are available for some distances for foreign athletes. Other event details include club areas near the finish, rules on headphones and pacing, and a prize giving on the main stage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
