Independence Day 5K and 1K
The Independence Day 5K and 1K takes place in downtown Cumming, Georgia. This event marks its 11th annual edition and coincides with the celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States. The course for the primary race leads participants through local city streets, with both the start and finish lines situated at the same location.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K (3.11 miles)
- 1K Fun Run
- Tot Trot
- Virtual 5K
All participants receive a die cast finishing medal. Runners who register by the specified deadline have the choice between a women's racerback tank or a unisex T-shirt. On-site registration and packet pickup are available on the morning of the event at the Hill Center.
Awards are presented after the races for various categories, including overall winners, Masters, and age group placements. Medals are provided for first, second, and third place in five-year increments, starting from ages 10 and under up to 75 and older.
Free parking is available off Tribble Gap Road and in front of nearby schools. The event serves as a fundraiser to support local disadvantaged adolescents by providing them with the means to participate in school or local track and cross country programs.
