Independence Day 10K Trail Run - Breckenridge
The Independence Day 10K is a scenic trail running event held in Breckenridge as part of the town's Fourth of July celebration. The race covers 10K on local trails and offers views around Breckenridge. The 2026 edition features a new start location on Main Street at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Main Street.
Entry is limited to 500 participants; the event often sells out in June. Registered participants receive a race t-shirt, with sizes distributed on a first come, first served basis for the first 500 registrants. Online registration closes the day before the race, and in-person registration and bib and shirt pick up are available at Carter Park the day before and at the race start on race day.
Organizers monitor air quality and may adjust the course or start arrangements if conditions change. The event operates under a special use permit from the USDA Forest Service and the White River National Forest. There is limited parking for the event; alternatives include local shuttle services or walking from nearby lots. The Stephen C. West Ice Arena is noted as a nearby parking option within a short walk to Main Street.
Past years' results and photos are maintained for reference. The event lists a title sponsor and an official medical sponsor. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
