Event overview
The IDEA Public Schools 5K & Healthy Living Expo is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Ascarate Park in El Paso, TX (6900 Delta Dr.). The event is part of the Healthy Kids Here program, which began seven years ago. The organizer describes this edition as the 5th Annual Healthy Kids Here 5K Run, 1K Walk and Healthy Living Expo. Proceeds will support programming for scholars at IDEA El Paso schools. Parking is free on site. The event is rain or shine and no refunds are allowed.

Multiple entry categories are offered, including community, IDEA team & family, and IDEA students. Entry fees listed include $20 for community 5K and 1 Mile events, $15 for IDEA team & family events, and $0 for IDEA student 5K and 1 Mile events. Every registered runner in the 1 Mile and 5K receives a finisher medal. The 5K awards trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Male and Female in four age categories: 12 & Under; 13-18; 18-50; and 50+. The IDEA campus with the most runners on race day receives a traveling trophy to be kept at the campus until the next year.
Packet pick-up includes a bib for all runners and a shirt for paid runners, with pick-up at the IDEA El Paso Regional Office and at Ascarate Park on event weekend. Route maps for the 5K and 1 Mile are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
