2026 Islendingadagurinn - Icelandic Festival of Manitoba Running Races
The Icelandic Festival of Manitoba running program in Gimli offers in person and virtual races for 2026. Events take place in and around Gimli Pavilion Park and the 10 mile route runs from Winnipeg Beach to Gimli on Hwy 9.

Key details: the 10 mile race is accredited by the Manitoba Runners Association and is described as the second oldest running race in Western Canada. The established route is noted as fast and flat. Age group awards are given for the 10 mile event across standard age divisions through 70 plus.
The 5 km includes prizes for first place male and female finishers and serves as the Gimli area race within the Interlake Run Series, a four-race circuit in the lake region between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba.
The 1 mile Jan's Memorial fun run is presented as an accessible event with day of race registration available and a low entry fee range.
Virtual participants may submit times during designated windows in July and August 2026. Race kit pickup evenings are scheduled before the event at Big Sky Run Co. in Winnipeg (194 Tache Ave.) and at the Icelandic Festival office in Gimli (107–94 1st St.).
