About the race
Icebox 480/240 is a timed trail event held in River Falls, WI at Whitetail Ridge. Runners choose between two duration challenges and complete repeated laps of a single track loop to cover as much distance as they can within their chosen time.
The course consists of a roughly 5 mile single track loop at Whitetail Ridge. A short bonus loop of about 1 mile opens during the event’s final hour to allow racers an extra lap near the end.
Distances/durations offered:
- 4 hour (240 minutes) challenge
- 8 hour (480 minutes) challenge
Participants may keep drop bags at the start point. The event is cupless; runners should bring a reusable water container to refill at aid stations. A staffed aid station provides snacks and, later in the day, more substantial items including chicken noodle soup, quesadillas, and mashed potatoes. Portable toilets will be available at the start area.
Parking is allowed on nearby streets only; parking in business lots is prohibited. Pacers are not allowed. Crews may assist runners but may administer aid only near aid stations or drop bag areas. There is no immediate camping access; Willow River State Park is listed about 14 miles away and hotels are available in nearby towns. The race director may delay, suspend, or cancel the event for safety reasons; refunds and transfers are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
