80s Rock Themed Running Event
The I Wanna Rock 5K takes place at the PrairieFire Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Hosted by Rock N Brews, this event features a soundtrack dedicated to 80's rock and roll, including heavy metal and hair bands. Participants are encouraged to wear vintage concert shirts to match the theme.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Lil' Rockers Kids Run
- Virtual 5K
All finishers receive a medal. Awards are presented to the fastest overall male and female finishers, as well as the top masters male and female. Additionally, awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 14 and under up to 80+. These awards are distributed on-site and are not mailed after the event.
A post-race breakfast buffet is provided by Rock N Brews. Event shirts are also available for purchase. The 2026 charity partner for the race is Hearts For RMHC, which benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. Packet pickup is held on the Saturday prior to the race at a designated location, with race-day pickup available for any remaining packets.
