Event overview

The I-35 Challenge takes place Saturday October 17 to Sunday October 18, 2026 in Kansas City, MO 64108. It is a partnership between the Garmin Kansas City Marathon and the IMT Des Moines Marathon. The challenge covers completing events at both Kansas City and Des Moines on concurrent weekends. Runners may pair events from the two races to complete the challenge.

Format and entries

Participants may combine the following event types from Kansas City and Des Moines: a Marathon with a Marathon, a Marathon with a Half Marathon, a Half Marathon with a Marathon, or a Half Marathon with a Half Marathon. Entry options listed with prices are: marathon + marathon ($254), marathon + half marathon ($234), half marathon + marathon ($234), and half + half ($214). There is also an I-35 Challenge ONLY option for participants already registered for the Kansas City and Des Moines events; that option is listed at $35 and its registration opens December 31, 2025 at 12:00am CST.
