I-35 Challenge
The I-35 Challenge is a joint offering from the Garmin Kansas City Marathon and the IMT Des Moines Marathon that spans two cities and two states on the same weekend. It combines the participant items and finishing credentials from both races into one challenge entry.
The event options combine full and half marathon distances across the two race weekends. Available distances include:
- Full marathon
- Half marathon
Participants may complete the I-35 Challenge by running one of these combinations across the two events: full marathon in Kansas City and full marathon in Des Moines; full marathon in Kansas City and half marathon in Des Moines; half marathon in Kansas City and full marathon in Des Moines; or half marathon in Kansas City and half marathon in Des Moines.
In addition to the regular participant items from each marathon, I-35 Challenge entries receive an additional challenge-branded commemorative item and a separate finisher medal. The organizer provides related resources such as course maps, packet pickup and race expos, results, and training resources. Registration accommodates combined entry for both races as well as an I-35 ONLY option for participants who already registered for the individual marathons.
