Combined Running Series in the Midwest
The I-35 Challenge is a multi-event partnership between two major regional races: the Garmin Kansas City Marathon in Missouri and the IMT Des Moines Marathon in Iowa. This event requires participants to complete the designated races on consecutive weekends in October. The challenge links the two cities, which are connected by the Interstate 35 corridor.
Participants have the option to choose between different distance combinations to fulfill the requirements of the challenge. Registration is available as a bundled package for both events or as a separate add-on for those who have already registered for the individual races independently.
Available distance combinations for the series include:
- Marathon in Kansas City and Marathon in Des Moines
- Marathon in Kansas City and Half Marathon in Des Moines
- Half Marathon in Kansas City and Marathon in Des Moines
- Half Marathon in Kansas City and Half Marathon in Des Moines
The event spans two states, starting with the races in Kansas City followed by the races in Des Moines the following weekend. This allows runners to participate in two distinct urban courses within a eight-day period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
