Event Overview
The Hyner Trail Challenge is scheduled for April 18, 2026, in Hyner, Pennsylvania. The event is based at 9650 Renovo Road and follows a course through remote areas and narrow mountain roads. Participants can select one of two distances:
- 25K
- 50K
The event organizers maintain a strict registration policy. There are no refunds, deferrals, bib switches, or transfers permitted for any reason. For the 50K distance, participants must provide proof of completing a previous trail race of a similar length in under 10 hours. Road races are not accepted as qualifying events for this requirement.
Course Regulations and Logistics
Both distances involve hard cut-off times. The 25K event requires participants to reach specific aid stations at the four-mile and 8.5-mile marks by set times to ensure a nine-hour finish. The 50K event has multiple checkpoints at mile 7.5, mile 17, and mile 25 to ensure a 10-hour finish. Runners who do not reach the 7.5-mile mark by the designated time are redirected to the shorter course.
The event site does not have electricity or water. Participants must fill their hydration packs and bottles before arriving at the location. An ice trailer is provided behind the registration tent for use before and after the race. Due to the remote nature of the terrain and narrow roads, spectator access is restricted. For the 25K, spectators can only access Hyner View State Park. For the 50K, designated access points are located at Hyner View State Park and Hyner Run State Park.
