Run Through the Heart of Des Moines
The Midwest Greater Des Moines Half Marathon is a fitness event scheduled for September 2026 in Des Moines, Iowa. Formerly known as the Hy-Vee Half Marathon, this co-ed race series provides a multi-distance format within the downtown area. All participants start and finish their respective races on Court Avenue, located near the Polk County Courthouse.
Participants can choose from several individual running distances:

- 10K (6.2 Miles)
- 5K (3.1 Miles)
- Kid's One Mile Fun Run
In addition to the physical races in the city, virtual options are available for the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K distances, allowing participants to complete their chosen distance remotely.
The event includes a specialized youth division with the Kid's One Mile Fun Run. This distance is designed for children between the ages of 5 and 15. To create a professional race experience for younger participants, the one-mile run uses the same main finish line structure as the adult races.
