Hustle for Hope at CHNC

The Hustle for Hope 5K is an event organized to coincide with HIE Awareness Month in April. Conducted by the advocacy organization Hope for HIE, the event seeks to increase awareness, education, and support for families impacted by neonatal and pediatric-acquired Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). This condition involves a lack of oxygen and restricted blood flow impacting the brain, which can occur before, during, or after birth.

The event structure includes the following distance:

  • 5 km

The Hustle for Hope 5K allows for flexible participation. Participants may complete the distance using any form of mobility, including walking, running, or rolling. While the initiative began as a virtual event, it has expanded to include local events organized by volunteer hosts in various locations globally.

Proceeds and sponsorships from the event support Hope for HIE's mission to provide educational resources, advocacy, and peer support programs. The organization connects a global community of over 9,000 families, researchers, and clinicians. Local event sites may include sponsor tables and signage to acknowledge community supporters.
