About the race
Hustle for Habitat is a community 5K run/walk hosted by the Habitat for Humanity UW–Madison Chapter to support Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. The event brings together community members and UW–Madison students to raise funds and awareness for affordable homeownership programs that help local families achieve long-term housing stability.
Proceeds support the construction and financing of permanently affordable homes through volunteer labor, homeowner education, and 0% interest, income based mortgages. UW–Madison students contribute through fundraising, volunteer builds, and campus engagement. Habitat for Humanity of Dane County partners with families and builds roughly 8 to 15 new homes each year.
The event is scheduled for September 20, 2026, with the race area near 801 Walnut St, Madison, WI at Lot 60 by the Near East Fields. A registration fee of $25 applies. Free parking is available around the Near East Fields at Lots 60, 39, 57, and 59.
Race timing will use a display clock; results will not be uploaded after the race and times are not certified or chip timed. All race day materials are provided at check in. Participants receive a Hustle for Habitat T shirt, post race snacks and refreshments, and raffle tickets for prizes donated by local businesses and organizations.
