Husky Pack Mutt Strut 5K Run/Walk
The Husky Pack Mutt Strut is a community 5K event held at Haw Creek Elementary in Cumming, GA. Proceeds are dedicated to creating an on-campus Therapy Dog Park intended to serve as an outdoor classroom and therapeutic space for students.
The planned Therapy Dog Park is described as a place for students to engage in occupational therapy, speech therapy, gross motor skill activities, and functional communication in a natural setting. Older students may gain vocational and facility maintenance experience, and the park is intended to welcome students from other Forsyth County schools. The park is also described as a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support incentive for students.
Event services and participant items include timing for runners and a bandana provided for registered dogs to hold their timing chip. Award categories are listed for the 5K: overall male and female, plus age-group awards three deep for ages 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and up.
