Hurtwood 50k Trail Ultramarathon
The Hurtwood 50 km trail ultramarathon starts from Dorking and follows the Greensand Way into the forested Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The route is an out and back with a 5 mile loop off the Greensand Way before the return leg.
Runners follow a well signed trail through woodlands, ridgelines and valleys, climbing over Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill. The course is supported with aid stations at 7, 13, 18 and 24 miles, event medics, a sweeper runner and electronic timing with live leaderboards. Reflective signs are used for low light conditions and participants may need a headtorch if they are on course late in the day.
Participation requires a mandatory kit list. The event provides a free TRIBE bar at registration, a finisher medal and the option to purchase a commemorative T shirt for an additional charge; there is also an option to fund tree planting for a contribution. The race qualifies towards the UTMB runner performance index.
Practical details include Dorking Sports Centre as the event base with parking at the sports centre and nearby car parks. Entries are online only and places close at 13:00 on Friday 4 December 2026 or when capacity is reached. Minimum age for entry is 18 years and dogs are not permitted on the course.
