Hurtwood 50k Trail Ultramarathon
The Hurtwood 50 km trail ultramarathon starts in Dorking and follows the Greensand Way into the forested Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The route is a lollipop course with an out and back layout and a five mile loop at the western end. It passes over Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill on clearly signed trails through woodlands, ridgelines and valleys.
The event is scheduled for Sunday 6th December 2026 and is based at Dorking Sports Centre, Reigate Road, Dorking. Parking is available at the sports centre, the nearby Pippbrook car park, or the High Street Wathen Road car park. The overall cut off is 7.30pm, giving approximately ten hours to complete; darkness usually arrives around 4.45pm so the final hours are likely to require lights and the signs are reflective. A mandatory kit list applies.
Support includes aid stations at about 7, 13, 18 and 24 miles, event medics, a sweeper runner, full route signing and electronic timing by SportIdent with live leaderboards. The event qualifies towards the UTMB runner performance index. All finishers receive a medal. Optional event t shirts are offered for a nominal charge and there is a tree planting option for an additional contribution.
Entries are online only and close at 1pm on Friday 4th December or when capacity is reached. The minimum age is 18 and dogs are not permitted. Deferral requests must be made by midday on 22nd November. No refunds are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
