Event overview
The Hurtwood 50 is a 50k trail ultramarathon organised by Freedom Racing on Sunday 7 December 2025. The route starts in Dorking and follows the Greensand Way into the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The course is a lollipop - an out-and-back with a five mile loop off the Greensand Way - and passes over Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill on marked trails through woodlands, ridgelines and valleys. The event qualifies towards the UTMB runner performance index.
Practical information
The overall race cut off allows roughly 10 hours to complete. Aid stations are provided at 7, 13, 18 and 24 miles. The route is fully signed and supported; signage is reflective. Electronic timing is used with live online leaderboards. A mandatory kit list is required for participation. Minimum age to enter is 18 years. Entries are online only and there are no entries on the day. Parking is available at Dorking Sports Centre, the Pippbrook car park across the road, and the High Street / Wathen Road car park. The event offers a finisher medal and provides event medics and a sweeper runner.
