Hungryland Trail Races
Hungryland takes place in Hungryland Slough Natural Area near West Palm Beach, Florida. The event uses a 14.3 mile loop that travels through multiple native south Florida ecosystems on management roads and footpaths across the 3,004-acre site. The site contains flatwoods, prairies, swamps, hammocks, and marsh areas. Entrant capacity is limited to 75 due to the area’s environmental sensitivity.
Distances and formats:
- 33 Hour Jogger Slogger - complete as many 14.3 mile loops as desired
- Runner Gunner 6 Hour - one 14.3 mile loop or repeat within 6 hours
The loop is run clockwise as a true loop with no repeated sections. The surface is primarily double-track and includes dirt roads, hard-packed grassy areas, and softer runnable paths near wetlands. The course is flat but conditions vary with weather; sections can be wet, muddy, dry, or sandy and the course may be rerouted for safety. Aid is provided on course with a full start/finish aid station, a full mid-loop aid with drop bag access, and additional water and ice stations so runners will not go more than about 3 to 4 miles without aid. Pacers are permitted beginning at dusk for 100 mile entrants and Jogger Sloggers still running. Rules prohibit course cutting, smoking, alcohol, pets, firearms, removal of vegetation, and littering.
