Hungryland Trail Races : West Palm Beach, FL
The event uses a 14.3 mile loop through Hungryland Slough Natural Area, a roughly 3,004 acre site that includes flatwoods, swamps, hammocks, prairies, and management roads. The course surface is primarily double-track with dirt roads, hard packed grassy areas, and softer runnable paths near wetlands. The route is flat with no significant elevation gain.
There are two timed race options and related distance outcomes:
- 14.3 mile loop through varied south Florida ecosystems
- 6 hour Runner Gunner timed race
- 33 hour Jogger Slogger timed race; seven completed loops equate to 100 miles
The race is supported with manned and unmanned aid stations. Planned manned stations include a full start/finish station, a full aid station with drop bag access near mile 7.8, and a full station at mile 6.75. Additional water and fuel stations are placed roughly every 3 to 4 miles. Organizers note aid locations and contents may change for safety or due to course conditions. Pacers are allowed beginning at dusk and through the night for 100 mile runners and Jogger Sloggers still running.
Entrant capacity is limited to 75 due to the protected nature of the site. The course and its management are subject to environmental rules: no firearms, no vegetation removal, no smoking, no littering, no bicycles or horses, no alcohol, and no dogs. The event includes awards for finishers and top placings and a refund and deferral policy with specific deadlines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
