Hungryland : West Palm Beach, FL : March 20, 2027
Hungryland is a loop-based trail event held in Hungryland Slough Natural Area near West Palm Beach, Florida, organized by Sand Spur Ultra. The course is a 14.3 mile iron cross loop run clockwise that traverses management roads and paths across roughly 3,000 acres, passing pine flatwoods, prairies, swamps, hammocks, and marshland.
Distances offered include:
- 33 Hour Jogger Slogger, multiple 14.3 mile loops allowed
- 6 Hour Runner Gunner, one loop or two within the time limit
The surface is primarily double-track with dirt roads, hard packed grassy sections, and softer runnable paths near wetlands. The race is described as flat with no significant elevation gain. The loop is supported with a full aid station at the start/finish, a full mid-loop aid area, and smaller water and ice stations roughly every 3 to 11 miles; aid station locations and contents may be altered for safety or accessibility. Pacers are permitted beginning at dusk for 100 mile entrants and Jogger Sloggers who remain running through the night. Small base camps near the start/finish are allowed for longer runners.
Entrant capacity is limited to 75 due to the environmentally sensitive site. The event enforces rules to protect the natural area and participants: no firearms, pets, alcohol, smoking, bicycles, horses, removal of vegetation, or feeding wildlife. Refund and deferral policies, transfer rules, and award details are published by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
