Event Overview
The Hub City Triathlon takes place at Dahme Lake in Aberdeen, South Dakota. This multisport event offers different formats to accommodate varying levels of experience, including a sprint distance and a super sprint option specifically designed for novice participants. The event center is located at 3301 S Hwy 281, where the transition area and check-in are situated.
Course Details
The competition begins with a lake swim in Dahme Lake. Participants in the novice category are permitted to use life jackets during the swim portion. The cycling and running segments take place on flat, out-and-back courses. These sections utilize Highway 281, 135th Street, and Highway 10.
Event Categories
Participants can register for the following distances and formats:
- Sprint Distance: Includes a 500 meter swim, a 12 mile bike, and a 5k run.
- Super Sprint (Novice): Consists of a 150 meter swim, a 3 mile bike, and a 1 mile run.
- Sprint Distance Relay Team: Features the same distances as the individual sprint for teams of two or three.
Prizes are awarded for top overall finishers in both the sprint and novice categories. Age group awards for the sprint distance are categorized in ten-year increments for men and women, starting from under 24 up to 65 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
