Hub City Races: Half, 10K & 5K
The Hub City Races take place at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, IN. The event offers a chip timed, out-and-back course that begins and ends in a scenic, wooded park and runs along the streets of historic Crown Point. Organizers describe the route as flat and suitable for fast times; the half marathon is USATF certified while the 10K and 5K are not.
The event includes timing mats at the start and finish, awards for Top Overall, Top Master (40+), and the top three in each age group, and finisher medals for the first 400 registered participants. There are four water stations positioned along the route; runners pass those stations eight times on the out-and-back course. Three restroom or port-a-potty locations are available and are passed six times on the course. The half marathon has a 3.5 hour time limit (16:00 minute per mile pace); runners who exceed that limit will not receive a recorded time.
Additional race features listed by the organizer include music on course, water and Gatorade at stops, race awards in several divisions including Clydesdale and Athena, and post-race food options. The organizer notes no refunds for any reason and that transfers are not allowed after September 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
