HowlOWeen 5K
The HowlOWeen 5K is a Halloween themed 5-kilometer run and dog walk held on 10/11/2026 at 101 Soccer Park Drive, Cary, NC 27511. The event is hosted by the NC State veterinary school community and its SAVMA chapter.
The event welcomes runners, walkers, families, students, and dog owners. Costumes are encouraged for people and pets. Organizers plan post-event activities such as costume contests, photo opportunities, and treats for both human and canine participants.
Adoptable shelter pets may be available to "rent" to run with participants; volunteers will provide information and there is an option to donate to adopt a shelter dog at check in the morning of the event. The event is raising funds for the Harnett County Animal Shelter and the SAVMA chapter. Sixty percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Harnett County Animal Shelter.
About the shelter: it is a county operated, open intake municipal shelter serving Harnett County, North Carolina. The shelter receives strays, owner surrenders, animals from difficult circumstances and medical cases, and works on enrichment, socialization, reunification, adoptions, and rescue transfers.
