Howl at the Moon Ultra : Kennekuk Cove County Park
The event runs on a 3.25 mile loop at Kennekuk Cove County Park near Danville, Illinois. The course follows the original clockwise direction and includes a climb known as Watermelon Hill. Surfaces include grass, gravel, and pavement. There is a full aid station around the halfway point and an additional aid station on top of Watermelon Hill. Start and finish are at the Laury Barn (Big Red Barn). Participants may keep personal aid and crew support at the start/finish area.
The event offers timed options for eight hour and four hour efforts for runners and walkers. Awards are distributed by overall placing and by age groups: the eight hour run awards top three overall male and female and top five in each age division (0-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over); the four hour run awards top three overall and top male and female in each age division; the walk events award top three male and female overall. Race shirts are available for purchase for ten dollars and each registered participant receives a swag bag and bib at packet pickup inside the Laury Barn.
Camping is available for a fee that covers both nights and is managed first come first serve. The event is limited to 250 participants. No refunds, deferrals, or transfers of division are allowed.
