Event format
HOURGLASS is a last person standing, winner takes all running event held on 27 June 2026 at the Royal Cornwall Showground. Prizes are awarded to the last remaining male and female runners, and for second and third place. The race is run as consecutive laps of 2 mile on a flat-ish loop. Participants begin with 30 minutes to complete the first lap; each subsequent lap reduces the allowed time by one minute. Runners who do not finish a lap within the allocated time are eliminated.
Course and on-site facilities
The route uses a mixture of tarmac and grass and includes twists and turns. Completing 13 laps at an 18-minute lap time (about a 9-minute mile pace) equals a marathon distance; continuing beyond that reaches ultra distances. Organisers plan to advise nearer the event on recommended footwear based on conditions. Food and beverage outlets will be available on site. One onsite hall will be in use with toilets and showers, and massage services will be offered. All participants receive a bespoke medal.
