Hot August Night Trail Race
The Hot August Night Trail Race is a night trail event in the Citrus Tract of the Withlacoochee Forest, held at Holder Mine Campground in Inverness, FL. The event offers multiple distances run on single-track trails.
- 20 Mile Night Race
- 10 Mile Night Race
- 5 Mile Night Race
The course is entirely single-track and marked with reflective pins and glow sticks. Trails are packed sand or pine-needle covered and include some gentle ups and downs. At the completion of each loop, participants cross a timing mat. Headlamps or flashlights are required for all participants. The organizer suggests dressing in bright colors and using creative outfits.
Aid and support vary by distance: the 5-mile loop includes an on-course hydration station (about 2.4 miles), a finish-line aid station, and a post-race picnic; the 10-mile loop includes a hydration station and a staffed on-course aid station, a finish-line aid station, and a post-race picnic; the 20-mile event is two 10-mile loops. Every finisher receives a handcrafted medal. RV and tent sites are available at Holder Mine Campground for participants who plan to camp.
