Horsethief Canyon Trail Run
The Horsethief Canyon Trail Run is a 10K event held near Marquette, Kansas at Kanopolis State Park. The course begins at the Buffalo Tracks Trailhead and follows the Horsethief Canyon Trail, a multi-use route shared with equestrians, hikers, and mountain bikers.
The trail includes hills, rocky sections, sand, and up to five shallow water crossings. The course layout features about a half mile of paved road at the start, followed by roughly six miles of singletrack trail. Trail length may be reduced if water levels are high.
Facilities at the trailhead include restroom facilities. Camping areas and showers are available within one mile of the Horsethief Canyon day use area. One self serve water stop will be provided on the trail; participants are asked to place used cups in the provided trash box. Snacks and drinks are available at the finish area.
Registration closes on Mon, Sep 7 at 11:59 PM CT. Race day registration opens at 8:00 AM at the start/finish location. Entry fees are listed as $25 without a shirt and $40 with a shirt. Park access requires a day use permit of $5.00 per vehicle at the pay booth unless a Kansas Parks permit is already held.
Awards are given for overall men's and women's finishers and the top three finishers in each age group. Spectators are welcome at the finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
