Horsethief Canyon Trail Run
The Horsethief Canyon Trail Run is a 10K trail race held in Marquette, KS, at the Buffalo Tracks Trailhead in Kanopolis State Park. The course uses the Horsethief Canyon Trail, a multi-use route for equestrians, hikers, and mountain bikers.
Runners follow approximately 1/2 mile of road at the start, then about 6 miles of trail. The trail includes hills, rocky sections, sand, and as many as five shallow water crossings. Trail length may be shorter if high water conditions occur.
On-course provisions include one self-serve water stop; participants are asked to place used cups in the provided trash box. Restroom facilities are available at the trailhead. There are camping areas and showers within one mile of the Horsethief Canyon day use area. Snacks and drinks are provided at the finish.
Entry options noted for race day list $25 for entry without a shirt and $40 for entry with a shirt. After the event, awards are given to the overall men's and women's winners and to the top three finishers in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
