Horsethief Canyon Trail Run, September 12, 2026
The event is a 10K trail run held near Marquette, KS, at the Buffalo Tracks Trailhead in Kanopolis State Park. The course uses the Horsethief Canyon Trail, a multi-use equestrian, hiking, and mountain bike trail.
The route includes hills, rocky sections, sand, and as many as five shallow water crossings. There is approximately a half mile of road at the start followed by about six miles of trail; trail length may be reduced if high water is present.
Race day registration is available at the start location. The posted entry options are $25 without a shirt and $40 with a shirt. Participants must purchase a day use permit at the park pay booth or use a valid Kansas Parks permit.
Amenities at the venue include restrooms at the trailhead, camping areas and showers within one mile, one self-serve water stop on the trail, and snacks and drinks at the finish. Cups should be placed in the provided trash box. After the run, awards are given for overall men and women and for the top three finishers in each age group.
