Horsethief Canyon Trail Run, September 12, 2026
The Horsethief Canyon Trail Run takes place in Marquette, KS at the Buffalo Tracks Trailhead in Kanopolis State Park. The event distance is 10K and follows the Horsethief Canyon Trail.
The trail is multi-use for equestrian, hiking, and mountain bike traffic. Course surfaces include hills, rocky sections, sand, and up to five shallow water crossings. The route begins with about 1/2 mile of road followed by approximately 6 miles of trail; total trail length may be reduced in high water conditions.
Registration is offered through UltraSignup and closes on September 7, 2026. Race day registration is available at the start location. Entry fees listed are $25 without a shirt and $40 with a shirt. Park day use permits cost $5 per vehicle unless a Kansas Parks permit is already held.
Facilities at the site include restrooms at the trailhead, with camping areas and showers within about one mile. One self-serve water stop is provided on the trail, and snacks and drinks are provided at the finish. Awards are given to the overall men's and women's finishers and the top three in each age group.
