Rockin K Trail Runs : April 4, 2026
The 28th annual Rockin K Trail Runs take place at Kanopolis Lake State Park near Ellsworth, Kansas. The event offers the following race distances:
- 50K
- Marathon
- 21 Mile
- 4 Mile
The course is four interconnected loop trails: Horsethief Canyon, Prairie, Alum Creek, and Big Bluff. The Rockin K loop is the marathon loop. 21 mile runners do not run the Big Bluff loop; 50K runners complete the Big Bluff loop twice via the Gate 6 aid station. The 4 mile course is an out-and-back from the Corral shelter to Horsethief Canyon.
Race logistics include packet pick-up on the day before and on race morning, a technical blend t-shirt, and post-race food with a vegetarian option at the Corral shelter finish. Finisher awards are provided for all races and canine finishers are recognized in longer races. Participation is limited to 120 entrants in total. The event follows a no-refund policy with limited carryover options if race officials are notified by specified deadlines.
Aid support includes at least two manned aid stations around the marathon distances and additional unmanned water stations when conditions permit. Gate crossings, course markings with pink and orange ribbons, drop bag procedures, toilet facilities, leash rules for dogs, and restrictions on pacers and vehicle access at Gate 6 are described for participants.
