About the race
Horseshoe Valley Hustle Trail & Ultra Challenge is a Halloween weekend trail event at Horseshoe Valley Resort in Barrie, Ontario on October 31, 2026. The event combines a family-friendly 1 km dash, timed trail races, and an 8 hour endurance challenge with solo and team relay formats. Costumes are encouraged and a Best Costume award will be presented.
Distances and formats include:
- Spooky Small Steps 1KM family dash, non‑trail, minimum CA$10 donation to the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre Simcoe Muskoka
- 5KM trail run or walk
- 10KM trail run or walk (two laps of the 5KM course)
- 8 hour Endurance Challenge solo or team relay (teams of 2, 4, or 8)
The race uses a 5KM loop course featuring technical singletrack, rolling terrain, frequent elevation changes, steep climbs, loose rocks, roots, and narrow sections. There is one aid station at the 2.5KM mark each lap. All distances are chip timed; participants receive a finisher medal, breakfast, and access to race-day amenities.
Prizes are provided by Rossignol and include podium prizes for the 5KM and 10KM, shoe prizes for 8 hour solo winners, and awards for winning relay teams. Practical information includes free onsite parking, bib pickup options before race day and on site, spectator access, recommended trail shoes, and gear suggestions for the 8 hour challenge.
