Hoppy Half Marathon, Relay, 10K & 5K
The Hoppy event on September 26, 2026 is a community fundraiser held on the Chief Standing Bear Trail in Beatrice, Nebraska. The course is an out and back route on a mostly crushed limestone trail with some paved sections; it is described as flat and suitable for running. Friendly leashed dogs are allowed on the trail.
Distances offered include:
- 13.1 miles half marathon
- 13.1 miles half marathon relays for two or three person teams
- 10K
- 5K
- Virtual 5K
- Virtual 13.1 miles
Relay teams must provide their own transportation for exchange points. The three person relay legs are approximately 5.3 miles, 2.5 miles, and 5.3 miles. The two person relay exchanges occur at approximately the 6.55 mile point.
Awards are given for 1st and 2nd in age group in 10 year divisions for the 5K, 10K and half marathon solo, and 1st through 3rd for combined relay teams. Race entries include a long sleeve soft blend shirt, custom medal, bib timing, post race refreshments, one beverage, and entry to Oktoberfest. Registrations open March 20, 2026; most in person entries close September 25, 2026 while virtual entries have a later close date. The event supports maintenance and sustainability of the Chief Standing Bear Trail and takes place in conjunction with Oktoberfest at Stone Hollow Brewing Co which features food vendors, a stein contest and live music.
