Event overview
The Hope Fest 5K Walk/Run & Kids Fun Run is the 3rd annual community race held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Marion, Illinois. The event begins on the grounds of Community of Faith Church at 5208 Meadowland Parkway and the race starts and finishes in the same general area. All proceeds support the Herrin House of Hope and the Hands of Hope Foundation and their local programs, including a meal program, thrift store, food distribution center, children’s summer feeding program, AmeriCorps job training, and a GED program in partnership with J.A. Logan. The event also supports planned Phase 2 projects such as a new food distribution center, a community wellness clinic, and an emergency shelter.

Registration opens February 1, 2026. Entry fees listed are $25 for 5K events and $15 for the kids fun run. Pre-registration by early September guarantees a 5K event T-shirt; on-site registration and packet pickup are available at the race site before the event, subject to shirt availability. The course is described as very flat and on all asphalt or concrete. Awards are given to the top three male and female runners in each 10-year age group, the top three walkers, and the top three finishers in the kids fun run; every kids fun run finisher receives a finisher’s award.
