H.O.P.E. 5K: Running for Survivors
The H.O.P.E. 5K and Fun Run is an athletic event held at Veterans Park in Alabaster, Alabama. Organized by the nonprofit H.O.P.E. - "You're Not In It Alone," the event serves to raise awareness and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The organization provides advocacy, education, and resources to help women rebuild their lives.
Participants can choose from two distances:
- Live Chip-Timed 5K
- 1-Mile Fun Run
The race utilizes a chip-timing system for the 5K distance to ensure accurate results. Awards are presented following the conclusion of the races, with honors designated for the fastest male participant, the fastest female participant, and the most spirited individual.
The event takes place on a fixed course within Veterans Park. Registration fees are utilized to support the mission of the nonprofit, and in the event of a cancellation due to extreme circumstances, fees are treated as donations to Crisis Center, Inc. Packet pickup is available at the park for several days leading up to the race. The event is scheduled to proceed regardless of weather conditions, including rain, heat, or cold.
