Event Overview

The Hop Forward Aquathlon is a multisport event held on a Sunday in early March. The course consists of a 300m serpentine swim, a 5K run, and a final 300m serpentine swim. Transitions between segments are timed and included in the overall result.

Event Details

The swims take place in a heated, 25-meter outdoor pool at the Lawrence Park Swim Club. The water temperature is typically around 82°F, so the event is held regardless of weather. Start times for swimmers are staggered by 10-15 seconds, with participants seeded from fastest to slowest based on expected registration numbers.

There are two event categories:

  • Aquathlon (individual)
  • Aquathlon Relay

Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in 10-year age groups. All participants who register by a late February deadline can choose between winter gloves or a t-shirt and will receive a custom award.

Venue and Logistics

The event is held at 293 Langford Road in Broomall, Pennsylvania. On-site parking is available. Organizers strongly advise pre-registration and request that participants arrive by 1:30 PM, as the parking lot will be closed to traffic during the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
