Event Overview
The Hooksett Kiwanis 5K Trail Race is an athletics event held in Hooksett, New Hampshire. Co-sponsored by Merrimack County Savings Bank, the event raises funds for local youth programs, trail improvements, and community food pantries through the Hooksett Kiwanis Foundation. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5 km trail race for runners and walkers
- 0.5 miles Fun Run for children aged 12 and under
Course Details
The 5 km course starts at the Heads Pond trail at the intersection of Hooksett Road and Post Road. The route begins on a hard-packed stone dust surface before moving into a wooded conservation trail. The race concludes at the Hooksett Public Library. For the children's Fun Run, the course covers a 0.5 mile distance located in front of the library. Port-O-Potties are available at the trail head for participant use.
Participant Information
Safety regulations prohibit the use of strollers and the presence of dogs on the course. A shuttle service is provided to transport participants and spectators from the Hooksett Library to the Heads Pond Trail Head. A secure bin is available at the library for the storage of personal items during the event. T-shirts are provided to the first 100 individuals who register for the race.
Awards and Categories
An award ceremony follows the competition, featuring a raffle for participants. The 5 km race includes male and female age categories for those 15 and under, 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
