Honeywagon Runs
The Honeywagon Runs are a small town country event that began in 1982 and takes place around Nooksack Valley Middle School, 404 W Columbia Street, Nooksack, WA 98276. The name refers to the manure wagons that once spread manure on fields along the roads used by the courses. The runs start and finish in the school parking lot and take place entirely outdoors on flat, low‑traveled scenic country roads that remain open to traffic.
The event offers multiple distances:
- Half Marathon course with aid stations approximately every 2 miles.
- 4 Mile Run no aid stations.
- Kids Fun Run (8 and under) free, field behind the school, finishers prizes.
There is a Fit School training program for the half marathon and 4 mile run. A $100 cash prize drawing is offered to early registrants. Drop bag space is available near the start and finish; runners are responsible for their own items while volunteers monitor the area. Prize money and placement awards are provided: first place prize money for top finishers in both the half marathon and the 4 mile, additional prizes for second place, and placement ribbons for the top four finishers in each age group.
