Homeward Bound 5K
The third annual Homeward Bound 5K takes place at the Cooper River Park track in Pennsauken. This event combines fitness with animal welfare, specifically supporting a local animal shelter that provides care for homeless dogs and cats. All proceeds from the race are donated to assist in feeding, housing, and maintaining the health of animals awaiting adoption.
The event features several activities for participants:
- 5K run or walk around the Cooper River Park perimeter.
- Track-based walking or running.
- Interactive area for meeting and playing with adoptable dogs.
The program begins with the introduction of over ten adoptable dogs on site. Participants can learn about the history of each animal before the physical activities commence. Recognition is provided for the top three male and top three female finishers of the 5K distance.
In addition to the run, the venue hosts various local vendors and informational tables. The entire event area is pet-friendly and includes food and beverage options for attendees.
