Hometown Heroes 5k
Delaware Technical Community College's Stanton and Wilmington campuses host the annual Hometown Heroes community event on September 17, 2026, at the clock tower in Rockford Park, Lookout Dr., Wilmington, DE. The event includes both a run and a walk and is free to attend this year.

Race day amenities include food, music, games, and family-oriented activities. Participants may purchase a race shirt for $15; shirts will be distributed at Rockford Park on race day. Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the race course.
Awards are given for overall first place male and female and for the top three finishers in each age group. Age groups are 13 and under, 14 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 plus.
The event supports student scholarships through donations, and Delaware Tech highlights the role of its graduates and trainees as local Hometown Heroes, including paramedics, nurses, small business owners, IT professionals, and others who serve the community.
