Hometown Heroes 5k Run/1 Mile Walk
Delaware Technical Community College’s Stanton and Wilmington campuses will host the Hometown Heroes 5k Run and 1 Mile Walk on September 17, 2026, at the clock tower in Rockford Park, Lookout Drive, Wilmington, DE. This year’s event is free. Pre-purchased T shirts will be distributed at Rockford Park on race day.
The event includes food, music, and games and is presented as a community activity connected to Delaware Tech. The college highlights that it trains many essential workers who become local Hometown Heroes, including paramedics, nurses, small business owners, and IT professionals. There is an option to make donations to support student scholarships.

Awards are given for overall first place male and female and for the top three finishers in each age group. Age group categories include 13 and under, 14–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, and 60 plus. Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the race course.
