Event Overview
The Home Stretch 5K is an annual running event held in Melbourne, Florida, designed to benefit National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS). This organization provides street-level outreach, homelessness prevention, and supportive services for homeless and low-income Veterans and their families. The course takes participants over the Eau Gallie Causeway, starting and finishing at Eau Gallie Square located at 1452 Highland Avenue.
Participation Details
The event features a single distance for all participants:
- 5 km (Running race)
Registration options are available for individual runners, teams, and active military or veterans. Participants can pick up their packets at Running Zone on North Wickham Road in the two days leading up to the race, or at Eau Gallie Square on the morning of the event.
Rewards and Amenities
The first 500 runners receive a race shirt and a finisher medal. The event includes music by DJ Yves, raffles, and beverages for participants aged 21 and older.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as top masters (40+) and the top three finishers across various age categories starting from 8 and under to 80 and over. Specialized awards are also given to the top three fastest limb-impaired veterans, the largest team, and the fastest team with at least five members.
