Holymoorside 10k
The annual Holymoorside 10k and Fun Run take place in the village of Holymoorside, located in Derbyshire near Chesterfield. Organized by the 1st Holymoorside Scout Group, the event functions as a fundraiser for the local scout group. Participants can choose between two distinct distances:
- 10 km road race
- 2 km Fun Run
The 10 km course is an accurately measured road race conducted under UKA rules. Starting at the Village Hall, the route follows quiet country lanes through the Derbyshire countryside. The layout includes a 4 km uphill section at the beginning, followed by a crossing over the moor. The run concludes with a fast descent back into the village and a final lap of the village playing fields. Runners must be at least 15 years old to participate in the 10 km distance.
The 2 km Fun Run is held on the village playing fields and is open to participants of all ages. This shorter route allows for on-the-day entry.
Event logistics include fully marshalled routes, drinks stations, and first aid cover as per UKA guidelines. Limited changing facilities are available at the Village Hall. Free parking is provided in a designated field located approximately 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from the start area.
Trophies are awarded to category winners, and all participants in the Fun Run receive a medal. Subject to availability, runners in the 10 km event receive a notepad and pen. Refreshments such as cakes and bacon rolls are provided by the organizers at the event site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
