Event Overview

The Holymoorside 10k Road Race and 2k Fun Run take place in the village of Holymoorside in Derbyshire. This annual event, organized by the 1st Holymoorside Scout Group, follows a route through scenic countryside and quiet country lanes. The primary purpose of the race is to support the fundraising activities of the local Scout Group, which is a registered charity.

Route and Distances

The race options include:

  • 10 km road race
  • 2 km Fun Run

The 10k race begins at the Village Hall and features a course that runs uphill for the first 4km. The route then winds across the moor before returning to the village for a fast, downhill finish. The race concludes with a lap of the village playing fields. The 2k Fun Run stays within the village playing fields.

Participation and Logistics

The 10k race is open to participants aged 15 and older and is run under UKA rules with an accurately measured course. First aid cover, marshals, and drink stations are provided according to guidelines. Participants have access to limited changing facilities and free parking in a designated field located approximately 5 to 10 minutes from the start area.

Trophies are awarded to category winners, and all runners can collect a commemorative notepad and pen, subject to availability. Scouts provide on-site refreshments including cakes and sandwiches for participants and spectators. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
