The course uses an out-and-back route to the Hollywood Sign Viewpoint and the start/finish area is located on the fire road just north of the Old Zoo picnic area. The 8K includes a turn-around at Cathy’s Corner.
Course, services and logistics
Course terrain and layout are described in detail: the 8M course is approximately 6 miles of trails and 2 miles of asphalt; the 8K is about 3.12 miles of trails and 1.9 miles of asphalt; the 5K is 3.12 miles of trails; the kid run is all trails. Aid stations and medical staff are provided: for the 8M at start/finish and approximately miles 1.63, 3.5, 4.5, and 6.62; for the 8K at 1.5 and 3.5 miles; for the 5K at start/finish and mile 1.52. Porta-potties are located at start/finish.
Participant services include a gender-specific short sleeve event shirt (guaranteed size deadline in early January), a finisher medal, chip timing, free photos for the 8M, awards for overall and age-grade winners, gear check, finish-line snacks and refreshments, and flexible deferral and transfer options.
