Event

The Holly Springs Race Against the Sun takes place on Saturday–Sunday, February 21–22, 2026, at Sugg Farm Park on Grigsby Avenue in Holly Springs, NC 27540. The event offers individual and relay endurance options, including a 24-hour event, 12-hour day and night individual events, a 24-hour 6-person relay, and a 12-hour 4-person relay. Ruck divisions are available for the same time formats and relay options.

Course and rules

The course is a trail loop of 4.167 miles with about 240 ft of elevation gain per loop. Only completed loops count; volunteers at the start/finish record laps. Completing one loop each hour results in 50 miles in 12 hours and 100 miles in 24 hours. Headlamps are required from half an hour before sunset until the end of the race. Aid at the start/finish provides water, electrolyte drink, and general nutrition. Ruck participants must pass a mandatory gear check and carry their pack each loop with the following weight rules: 20 lb if the rucker weighs under 150 lbs; 30 lb if over 150 lbs.

Facilities and awards

Crew tents are allowed in designated areas; fire pits may be used but no fires directly on the ground and all waste must be removed. Restroom facilities and a private trailer restroom for runners and crew are available along the course. Parking is on site at Sugg Farm Park. Awards include a custom belt buckle for 100-mile finishers. Ruck participants receive the same finisher medal and shirt as runners plus an official ruck finisher patch. Milestone patches are offered: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
