Holly Springs Race Against the Sun
The Holly Springs Race Against the Sun takes place February 21-22, 2026 in Holly Springs, North Carolina at Sugg Farm Park on Grigsby Avenue. The event uses a 4.167 mile trail loop that passes Bass Lake and the Sugg Farm area. Each loop has about 240 feet of elevation. Only fully completed loops count and volunteers at the start/finish record laps. Headlamps are required from half an hour before sunset until the end of the race.
The event offers individual and team formats, plus a ruck division with a mandatory gear check. Ruck participants must carry their pack every loop and meet weight rules: 20 pounds if the participant weighs less than 150 pounds, 30 pounds if the participant weighs more than 150 pounds. Patches are awarded for distance milestones including 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles, and a 50 x 50 patch for completing 50 miles while carrying a 50 pound rucksack. One pacer per runner is allowed for 12 hour and 24 hour individual entries.
An aid station at the start/finish provides water, an electrolyte drink, and general nutrition. Crew may use designated tent areas near the start/finish; fire pits are allowed but no fires directly on the ground and all waste must be removed. Real restrooms and a private trailer restroom will be available along the course. Parking is available on site at Sugg Farm Park. A 100 mile finisher receives a custom Race Against the Sun belt buckle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
