About the race
The Holland Haven Marathon takes place Sunday September 12, 2027, in Holland, Michigan. The event program includes in-person and virtual options and awards commemorative medals to all finishers.
The full marathon is USATF certified and follows a scenic route that runs along Lake Michigan, starting in Grand Haven and finishing in downtown Holland. The course is scheduled in early September when weather is typically mild and it provides a final opportunity to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
The half marathon begins at Camp Geneva and follows Lakeshore Drive into Holland. The course is mostly flat and runs along paved bike paths beside Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa.
The 8K is a flat, out-and-back road course described as approachable for novice runners and walkers while also serving experienced racers.
A virtual run option is available for the full marathon, half marathon, or 8K. Virtual participants may complete their chosen distance on any course during the month of September; virtual entries receive event swag that ships in early October. Virtual runs do not count toward the Holland Haven Trifecta Medal. Runners who complete all three in separate years earn the Trifecta Medal as recognition of completing the series.
