Hogeye Marathon and Relays : Springdale, Arkansas
The Hogeye Marathon and Relays is an annual road race in Springdale, Arkansas. Founded in 1977, the event is organized by a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and directs a portion of its proceeds to area charities. Since 2008 the event has raised over $586,000 for ten charities and local projects.
The race weekend takes place in downtown Springdale and nearby communities. The marathon starts and finishes on Emma Ave in the downtown district. The half marathon uses scenic parts of Springdale and includes a section through Fayetteville. The course passes the city’s five major parks, includes part of the Lake Fayetteville Trail, and has a small section on the Razorback Greenway. A Sunday program called Sunday Fun Day features a 5K run/walk and a 10K that start and finish at Shiloh Square and Turnbow Park.
An expo and packet pick up is held at Shiloh Square in downtown Springdale. The event also includes four person relays, with all relay finishers receiving a medal. Volunteers are invited to support a variety of tasks during the weekend. The event lists sponsors and charitable partners from the Northwest Arkansas region.
